DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:

 

The Director of Library Services recommends that the Board of Supervisors approve a plaque of appreciation honoring Daniel F. Rhoads upon his retirement from the Department of Library Services with over 15 years of dedicated public service to Solano County.

 

SUMMARY:

 

Daniel F. Rhoads began his career with Solano County Library on September 7, 2004 as a Library Associate (Entry) in Children’s services at the Vacaville Public Library - Cultural Center. On March 13, 2005, he earned a promotion to Library Associate and on March 11, 2018, he earned a reassignment to the Technical Services section where he was responsible for cataloging and preparing new materials for library branches.

 

Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Rhoads has provided excellent service and support to the people of Solano County.  He was well-known for his very popular children’s programs where he engaged, entertained and educated the children of Vacaville with his antics.

 

Mr. Rhoads has demonstrated the highest commitment to uncompromising excellence in all matters related to public library service in Solano County.

 

Mr. Rhoads retires on February 8, 2020 with over 15 years of outstanding service.  He is greatly valued and will be missed by his friends, co-workers and colleagues in the Library community for his integrity, breadth of knowledge, and dedication to the highest ideals of Library culture.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

 

The cost associated with preparing the agenda item is nominal and absorbed the department’s FY2019/20 Adopted Budget. The cost associated with preparation and purchase of the plaque of appreciation is included in the Board’s FY2019/20 Adopted Budget. 

 

ALTERNATIVES:

 

The Board could choose not to approve this plaque of appreciation; however, this is not recommended because this is an opportunity to recognize Daniel F. Rhoads dedication and outstanding contributions to the County and the community.

 

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

 

There is no other agency involvement.
