DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Department of Health and Social Services (H&SS) recommends that the Board of Supervisors approve the appointment of Roger Robinson, Assistant Director of H&SS, to the First 5 Solano Children and Families Commission for the term of March 4, 2024 through March 3, 2028.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The First 5 Solano Children and Families Commission (Commission) was established by an ordinance adopted by the Solano County Board of Supervisors on June 8, 1999. The ordinance established a Commission with nine members, including two representatives of the Department of Health and Social Services (H&SS). The Department is recommending the appointment of Roger Robinson, Assistant Director of H&SS, to serve as a commissioner on the Commission for the term of March 4, 2024 through March 3, 2028. Gerald Huber, Director of H&SS, has been serving on the Commission as one of the two H&SS representatives since January 13, 2015. Commissioner Neely McElroy, Deputy Director for Child Welfare Services, will continue to serve as the other representative for the Department of Health and Social Services.
Mr. Robinson has been with Solano County H&SS since the beginning of 2023, serving as Assistant Director of H&SS. Roger Robinson came to California from the states of Florida and Nebraska, where he has vast experience in Social Services. Mr. Robinson worked for the Department of Children and Families for 11 years in leadership roles and assisted the State of Florida in redesigning its Child Welfare System of Care.
