DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
Supervisor Hannigan recommends that the Board of Supervisors adopt a resolution in support of the Solano County Arts Council's efforts to seek grants from the California Arts Council to fund arts and culture initiatives within the county.
SUMMARY / DISCUSSION:
The Solano County Arts Council is an all-volunteer organization whose mission is to bring pride and artistic experiences directly to Solano County through programs and resources that enable people to create, present, produce, teach, and learn. The Solano County Arts Council will submit grant applications to the California Arts Council requesting funding for arts and culture initiatives within the county.
This resolution demonstrates the County's ongoing commitment to supporting the arts and ensures that the Solano County Arts Council can pursue funding opportunities with the California Arts Council.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Support of the Solano County Arts Council’s efforts to seek grants from the California Arts Council does not commit the County to any current of future funding contribution and has no impact on the County General Fund. Any future request for County funding for arts and culture initiatives would be separately presented to the Board of Supervisors for further consideration and direction. The costs associated with preparing the agenda item are nominal and absorbed by the department’s FY2023/24 Working Budget.
ALTERNATIVES:
The Board of Supervisors could choose not to adopt this resolution; however, this is not the recommendation.
