DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:

Supervisor Mashburn requests that the Board of Supervisors approve the appointment of Aaron Love to serve on the Vacaville Elmira Cemetery District Board representing District 5 for a 3-year term to expire January 4, 2027.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

Aaron Love will bring to this position nearly three decades of experience with the Vacaville Police Department and a deep understanding of the needs of the communities in and around Vacaville and Elmira. His leadership experience with the police department, as well as his involvement with Relay for Life, Fiesta Days, the Boys and Girls Club, plus numerous other activities give him a wealth of background to draw from in this new role in our community. His unique perspective will help continue the work of the Vacaville Elmira Cemetery District to preserve the rich history of the cemetery and ensure the final resting place of so many of Vacaville’s loved ones continues to be well cared for, for generations to come.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

The costs associated with preparing the agenda item are nominal and absorbed by the department’s FY2024/25 Working Budget.

ALTERNATIVES:

The Board could choose not to appoint Aaron Love, but that is not recommended as he has deep ties to Vacaville, is motivated to continue his service to the community, and will bring a fresh new voice to the board.
