DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
Supervisor Mashburn requests that the Board of Supervisors approve the reappointment of Elota Dorjahn to serve on the Vacaville Elmira Cemetery District Board representing District 5 for a term to expire January 1, 2029.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Elota Dorjahn moved to Solano County 46 years ago when her husband was stationed at Travis Air Force Base. She has raised a family in Solano County and began a nursing career that spanned 25 years. Elota has an eye for detail, is budget conscious, and the Vacaville Elmira Cemetery holds a very special place in her heart. In 2013, it became the final resting place for her two young granddaughters, Korry and Rachael, and in serving on the district’s board for another term she hopes to continue to honor the memory of her granddaughters, as well as preserve the rich history of the cemetery and ensure the final resting place of so many of Vacaville’s loved ones continues to be well cared for generations to come.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The costs associated with preparing the agenda item are nominal and absorbed by the department’s FY2024/25 Working Budget.
ALTERNATIVES:
The Board could choose not to reappoint Elota Dorjahn, but that is not recommended as she has deeply personal ties to the Vacaville Elmira Cemetery, is motivated to serve, and has brought a passionate voice to the board in her first term.
