DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
Supervisor Mashburn requests that the Board of Supervisors approve the reappointment of Jeff Moorhead to serve on the Solano County Fair Association Board of Directors representing District 5 for a term to expire July 31, 2028.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Jeff Moorhead is a Solano County native who started and shepherded a successful local business for 23 years. Additionally, Mr. Moorhead has been farming in the county for 25 years. He has served as a board member of the Vacaville Bobby Sox and Solano County SWAT (Success is Working All Together) youth sports organizations and has mentored youth for two decades as a volunteer sports coach. Mr. Moorhead is a gifted negotiator, known for making fair decisions that consider the interests of all parties involved, and has been a wonderful asset in his first term on the Solano County Fair Association Board of Directors.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The costs associated with preparing the agenda item are nominal and absorbed by the department’s FY2024/25 Working Budget.
ALTERNATIVES:
The Board could choose not to reappoint Jeff Moorhead, but that is not recommended as he is deeply rooted in the community and will continue to bring to the board a wide breadth of real-world experience in business, farming, and community involvement.
