DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
Supervisor Mashburn recommends that the Board of Supervisors adopt and present a resolution recognizing the month of March 2025 as Red Cross Month in Solano County.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION
The American Red Cross embodies the humanitarian spirit that is a part of the fabric of our community. In times of crisis their volunteers and donors come to the aid of neighbors and families in need fulfilling the organization's mission of preventing and alleviating suffering.
Locally in Solano County last year 151 American Red Cross volunteers hosted blood drives, educated the public in disaster preparedness, and were there for financial and emotional support for families affected by house fires and military members and their families.
We recognize March 2025 as Red Cross Month in Solano County and honor all those who give generously of their time, talents, and financial support to serve their neighbors in need; and encourage others to join the ranks of their volunteers and continue the legacy of the American Red Cross and its efforts to strengthen our community.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The costs associated with preparing the agenda item are nominal and absorbed by the Board's FY2024/25 Working Budget. The costs associated with preparation and purchase of the resolution materials are included in the Board's FY2024/25 Working Budget.
ALTERNATIVES:
The Board could choose not to adopt this resolution but that would not be recommended as this recognition is a wonderful opportunity to bring awareness to the important work of the American Red Cross and acknowledge the kindness and compassion of its many dedicated volunteers.

There is no other agency involvement.
