DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Department of Human Resources recommends the Board of Supervisors adopt a resolution amending the Alphabetical Listing of Classes and Salaries to retitle the revised classification of Assistant Director Health and Social Services - Research and Planning to Assistant Director Health and Social Services; and Adopt a resolution amending the List of Numbers and Classifications of Positions to delete 1.0 FTE Assistant Director Health and Social Services - Research and Planning and add 1.0 FTE Assistant Director Health and Social Services due to the change in job title.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Department of Human Resources, in collaboration with staff from the Department of Health and Social Services, reviewed the classification of Assistant Director Health and Social Services - Research and Planning to accurately reflect the responsibilities, duties and requirements of the position. As a result of this classification review, it was determined that the appropriate classification title for this position is Assistant Director Health and Social Services.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
There is no financial impact in adopting the resolutions as the recommended actions do not change the salary range for the classification. The cost associated with preparing the agenda item is nominal and absorbed by the Department’s FY2025/26 Working Budget.
ALTERNATIVES:
The Board could choose not to adopt the recommended resolutions; however, the proposed retitle and job specification update more accurately reflect the roles and responsibilities needed to plan, organize and direct the day-to-day administrative operations of the Health and Social Services Department.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The Department of Human Resources worked closely with the Department of Health and Social Services in revising the classification specification and retitling it to Assistant Director Health and Social Services. This is an Executive Management position, and it is not represented under a collective bargaining agreement.
