DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Department of Health and Social Services recommends that the Board of Supervisors adopt and present a resolution and plaque of appreciation honoring Ann M. Gonzales, Office Assistant II, upon her retirement from Health and Social Services, Employment and Eligibility Services Division, with 32 years of public service, including 20 years of dedicated service with Solano County.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Ann M. Gonzales began her career in public service with the San Francisco Unified School District in 1994 at Woodrow Wilson High School, now Phillip & Sala Burton Academic High School. She moved on to Thurgood Marshall Academic High School, where her dedication and commitment to serving led her to become the Department Head of the Visual and Performing Arts Department. Ms. Gonzales served 12 years with the school district before transitioning to a career at Solano County.
On July 26, 2006, Ms. Gonzales began her career with Solano County as an Office Assistant II with Child Support Services. From the beginning, Ms. Gonzales demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence, professionalism, and the mission of supporting individuals and families.
In July 2009, Ms. Gonzales transferred to Health and Social Services (H&SS), Child Welfare Services Division, where she continued to exemplify compassion, dedication, and reliability while supporting programs serving children and families.
In June 2016, Ms. Gonzales transferred to the H&SS Employment & Eligibility Services Division (E&ES), Benefit Action Center Clerical Unit, where she became an invaluable member of the team. Throughout her time in E&ES, Ms. Gonzales consistently demonstrated exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to ensuring that critical administrative processes were completed accurately and efficiently. Over the course of her career, Ms. Gonzales became recognized as a trusted resource and valued colleague. She willingly shared her experience and expertise with coworkers, helping strengthen the teams she served and leaving a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to work alongside her.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Ms. Gonzales will be remembered for the kindness, warmth, and positivity she brought to the workplace. Her cheerful personality, including her love of Hello Kitty memorabilia, brought joy to the workplace and reminded others that even during busy times, there is always room for kindness and a smile.
Ms. Gonzales retired on August 8, 2026, after more than 20 years of serving the County of Solano and over three decades of public service. Solano County congratulates Ms. Gonzales on her well-deserved retirement and wishes her the very best.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The costs associated with the purchase and preparation of the resolution materials and plaque are included in the Board’s FY2026/27 Working Budget.
ALTERNATIVES:
The Board may choose not to present a resolution and plaque of appreciation to Ms. Gonzales, Office Assistant II. This is not recommended as it is an opportunity to recognize Ms. Gonzales for 20 years of dedicated service to Solano County.
