DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:

The Department of Information Technology (DoIT)/Registrar of Voters (ROV) recommends that the Board receive a presentation by on the selection of Daniel Machado as the November 2024 “Employee of the Month” making him eligible to use the parking space designated for this program.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

On September 13, 2005, the Board of Supervisors established the County Government Center “Employee of the Month” parking program for County employees. Each month a County department is designated to select one of its employees as “Employee of the Month.” DoIT/ROV has been designated to select an employee for November 2024.

To select the Board’s “Employee of the Month” parking award, DoIT/ROV staff was asked to nominate a member of the staff for the “Employee of the Month” designation, detailing the reason for the nomination, and to submit nominations to the DoIT/ROV Director. The employee selected for November 2024 is Daniel Machado.

Daniel started his career with Solano County in 2021 and has since made significant contributions as the County’s Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Manager. His leadership and technical expertise have been instrumental in modernizing the County’s GIS infrastructure. Daniel has led several high-impact projects, including the implementation of ArcGIS Enterprise and a comprehensive data governance framework, ensuring secure and efficient data access across County departments. He has also been pivotal in enhancing public safety through his work with the Office of Emergency Services (OES), coordinating the integration of GIS data for emergency response and evacuation planning.

Throughout his time with the County, Daniel has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to improving the County’s technological capabilities. He has taken on complex initiatives such as managing large-scale data migration projects, facilitating critical GIS training sessions, and fostering partnerships with regional agencies to expand GIS services and digital equity. His leadership on the Solano Regional GIS Executive Committee and collaborative work with other local governments have furthered the County’s regional IT and broadband initiatives.

Daniel’s colleagues consistently praise his work ethic, technical knowledge, and his ability to lead complex projects while maintaining a positive attitude. Whether overseeing the creation of interactive maps for public health or managing critical infrastructure data for OES, Daniel is known for going above and beyond to meet the needs of the County.

Solano County is fortunate to have such a dedicated and talented professional like Daniel Machado. His contributions have had a lasting impact, and we are pleased to nominate him for the Employee of the Month award.
