SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

Anquanitte Ortega began her career with the Department of Health and Social Services (H&SS), Public Health Division, on November 15, 2004, as a Health Education Specialist in the Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Bureau. Shortly thereafter, on December 18, 2005, Ms. Ortega promoted to Senior Health Education Specialist in the Child Health and Disability Prevention Program where she served for 19 years.

Throughout her 20-year career with Solano County Public Health, Ms. Ortega has served in various roles, including serving the maternal, child, and adolescent populations through the Maternal, Child and Adolescent Bureau, and infants, children, and teens with unmet health needs through the Child Health and Disability Prevention Program.

Additionally, in July 2010, Ms. Ortega began supporting the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program as a provider liaison and educator in the prevention of lead poisoning in children and young adults. And in 2020, Ms. Ortega began supporting the Lead Paint Abatement Program, which seeks to improve the health of the community and lower the risk of lead in older homes in Solano County. Ms. Ortega is a valued community educator.

Over her career, Ms. Ortega has demonstrated tremendous dedication to serving the most vulnerable community members, bringing a wealth of expertise and commitment to her work. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ms. Ortega’s contribution to the response effort included coordinating testing and providing quarantine guidelines to local long-term care facilities as part of a concerted effort in Solano County to save the lives of those most at risk for death or severe health outcomes due to COVID-19. In 2020, during the LNU Lightening Complex Fire, Ms. Ortega worked as an emergency worker in Solano County evacuation shelters, providing support, resources, and health education to residents impacted by the fire.
