DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Department of Resource Management recommends that the Board of Supervisors:
1. Authorize the Director of Resource Management to solicit for bid, award and execute a contract for landscape maintenance services, up to $200,000, for Benicia Road, Suisun Parkway, and other as-needed locations; and
2. Authorize the Director of Resource Management to make necessary amendments to the executed contract within budgeted appropriations that do not exceed 10% of the total contract amount.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Department of Resource Management (Department) will need to solicit for bid, award and execute a landscape maintenance contract for the following roadway corridors through year 2026:
1. Benicia Road, from Lemon Street to Beach Street
2. Suisun Parkway, from Chadbourne Road to Suisun Creek Bridge
3. Other as-needed locations including portions of Cordelia Road, Green Valley Road and Rockville Road
Landscape maintenance services typically include weeding, replanting and watering during dry months.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The $200,000 of landscape maintenance contract costs will be paid from the Road Fund and are included in the FY2024/25 Working Budget for on-call/small contract services. There is no impact to the General Fund. The costs associated with preparing this agenda item are nominal and absorbed by the Department’s FY2024/25 Working Budget.
ALTERNATIVES:
The Board may choose not to authorize the solicitation, award, or execution of this contract. This is not recommended as the contract is necessary to facilitate the specialty work needed to establish and maintain landscaping along the County’s roads.

None.
