DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Department of Information Technology recommends that the Board of Supervisors approve a plaque of appreciation honoring Donna Vestal, Information Technology Analyst IV, upon her retirement from the Solano County Department of Information Technology with over 13 years of dedicated service to Solano County.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Donna Vestal joined the Solano County Department of Information Technology (Law & Justice Division) as a Senior Systems Analyst embedded in the Solano County Probation Department on August 29, 2005. She excelled both in supporting Solano Probation and representing Solano Probation at professional technical associations.
Ms. Vestal served as the Probation IT Managers Association (PITMA) Executive Board from May 2010 through May 2014 and was awarded the Probation IT Managers Association (PITMA) Employee of the Year in December 2013.
Ms. Vestal was awarded the Chief Probation Officers of California Distinguished Services Certificate in both December 2015 and December 2017. Also, in July 2017, she was selected by the Solano County Chief of Probation for the First Annual Solano Probation Chief’s Award.
In December of 2017, Ms. Vestal was reclassified to IT Analyst IV.
Ms. Vestal always anticipated the needs of the Probation Department and was always prepared with an answer or with help to problem-solve department issues. She was committed to improving the performance of the technology used in the department; worked diligently with Probation Staff to help improve work processes and achieve challenging goals related to data collection and reporting.
Ms. Vestal acted as a technology mentor and routinely coached and trained Probation staff on how to work confidently with the technology used by the department.
Ms. Vestal was a highly respected and valued member of the Solano County Probation Office and the Department of Information Technology and will be greatly missed by her friends and coworkers.
Ms. Vestal’s last day of service was October 5, 2018.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The costs associated with preparing the agenda item are nominal and absorbed by the department’s FY2018/19 Adopted Budget. The costs associated with preparation and purchase of the plaque are included in the Board’s FY2018/19 Adopted Budget.
ALTERNATIVES:
The Board could choose not to present a plaque of appreciation; however, this is not recommended because this is an opportunity to recognize Donna Vestal’s dedication and outstanding contributions to Solano County.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
There is no other agency involvement.
