DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Department of Health & Social Services (H&SS) recommends that the Board approve a plaque of appreciation for Robbie Wilson, Administrative Services Manager, upon her retirement from Solano County with over 16 years of dedicated service in the Health & Social Services Department.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Robbie Wilson began working as a mid-manager in Solano County on April 25, 2000 in the position of Social Services Manager, Health & Social Services Department, Child Welfare Services Division (CWS); and from July 9, 2000 to September 30, 2001 as interim Social Services Administrator. On December 1, 2008, she started working in the Administration Division and on September 28, 2014 began her current senior management position as the Administrative Services Manager overseeing the Department’s hiring, payroll, and training.
Prior to coming to Solano County, Ms. Wilson had a plethora of experience and training, including a Bachelor of Arts in Social Welfare, Master of Science in Social Work and Juris Doctor degree from Loyola School of Law, Los Angeles. Additionally, Ms. Wilson has had over 15 years in the public, non-profit, and private sectors, ranging from her first job in school social work, to group home administrator, then oversight of Probate operations as Probate Chief in a Superior Court.
Ms. Wilson participated on many workgroups: 2005 CWS/CalWORKs Linkages Project; January 2009 “Hope for the Hungry” project in which she was nominated by the Director of H&SS and authorized by the Board of Supervisors, to lead a group of 400 county and military volunteers from Travis Air Force Base in distributing 100,000 lbs. of free food through eight community churches; 2012 County of Solano Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Project; and IntelliTime Implementation Status Team.
Ms. Wilson, known for ethical standards and candid responses, has earned respect of others for her span of knowledge, commitment to work, and encouragement of those who have been under her supervision and tutelage. Ms. Wilson has cultivated positive working relationships with the Auditor-Controller’s Office, Human Resources, County Counsel and other departments with which she has worked. H&SS expresses its appreciation and gratitude to Ms. Wilson and wishes her a long, healthy, and happy retirement.
FINANCIal impact:
The cost of providing this plaque of appreciation is included in the Department’s FY2016/17 Recommended Budget. There is no additional financial impact to the County General Fund.
ALTERNATIVES:
The Board could choose not to approve a plaque of appreciation. This is not recommended as this is an opportunity to recognize Robbie Wilson’s contributions to Solano County.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
There is no other agency involvement.
