DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Sheriff recommends that the Board of Supervisors adopt a resolution and plaque of appreciation honoring Correctional Officer Robert Randle, upon his retirement from the Sheriff’s Office with over 29 years of dedicated service to Solano County.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Robert Randle began his career with Solano County Sheriff’s Office as a Correctional Officer (Entry) on November 13, 1995 he was promoted to Correctional Officer on November 13, 1996, where he served until his retirement. Officer Randle worked numerous positions within the Custody Division including but not limited to Rover, Relief Officer, Receiving Officer, Visiting Officer, Protective Custody Modules, Officer in Charge, and Jail Training Officer. Officer Randle was commended in 1996 regarding his exceptional attention to his duties that lead to the prevention of fights among inmates that could have resulted in injuries for both inmates and officers. Officer Randle was known to carry out any task that was assigned to him, he was known for his excellent work ethic, effective communication skills, dependability, quiet and composed demeanor, and most of all as his desire to mentor and be a positive role model to new officers. Officer Randle was a highly respected and valued member of the Sheriff’s Office and will be greatly missed by his friends and co-workers.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The cost associated with preparing the agenda item is nominal and absorbed by the department’s FY2024/25 Working Budget. The costs associated with preparation and purchase of the resolution materials and plaque are included in the Board’s FY2024/25 Working Budget.
ALTERNATIVES:
The Board may elect not to adopt a resolution and plaque of appreciation; however, this is not recommended, as this is an opportunity to honor Correctional Officer Robert Randle for his years of public service to the Sheriff’s Office and the citizens of Solano County.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
County Administrative Office ordered the plaque and finalized the resolution for Board presentation.
