DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Department of Health and Social Services (H&SS) recommends that the Board of Supervisors adopt a resolution and plaque of appreciation recognizing Peter Duch, Courier, upon his retirement from the Department of Health and Social Services, Administrative Support Bureau, with over 25 years of dedicated service to Solano County.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Peter Duch began his career with Solano County on August 10, 1998 as a Courier in the General Services Department where he worked in the County mail room. Some of his responsibilities included processing all County mail, making deliveries to County departments, and operating the barcode sorting machine.
In 2007, Mr. Duch transferred to the Health and Social Services, Administrative Support Bureau (ASB), where he was the primary courier for H&SS. Utilizing the skills he developed while working in the County mail room, Mr. Duch helped the divisions within H&SS stay updated with postal regulations and establish a process for handling mail that made it easier for the H&SS mail room to process mail.
Mr. Duch enjoyed his work as a courier almost as much as he enjoyed the people he worked with. The only thing he may have enjoyed more was nature photography and a high-quality cup of coffee. Mr. Duch has always said, “It was more than just a job, H&SS was my second home.” Mr. Duch modeled the behaviors and integrity that H&SS strives to accomplish as employees of Solano County. He served diligently and took pride in his work. Mr. Duch modeled this service in H&SS and in the community, where he has served as a caregiver for six years.
Mr. Duch retires on March 15, 2024, after serving the County for over 25 years. Everyone in H&SS will truly miss Peter Duch and wishes him well in his retirement and any future adventure he decides to tackle, including nature photography and a high-quality cup of coffee.
