DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Sheriff recommends that the Board of Supervisors adopt a resolution and plaque of appreciation honoring Correctional Officer Cathy Bidou upon her retirement from the Sheriff’s Office with over 29 years of dedicated public service to Solano County.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Cathy Bidou began her career with the Solano County Sheriff’s Office as a Correctional Officer (Entry) on July 5, 1995 and was promoted to Correctional Officer on July 14, 1996. Officer Bidou worked numerous positions within the Custody Division, including Receiving Officer, Tower Officer, Court Security, Classification Officer, Medical Officer, and Jail Training Officer.
Officer Bidou was commended in 2012 as a Jail Training Officer for her active participation in team building and fostering a work culture that valued collaborative practices, individual contribution, and achievement. Officer Bidou was known for her versatility, dependability, professionalism, excellent work ethic, organization skills, adaptability, and, most of all, her strong verbal and written communication skills.
Officer Bidou was a highly respected and valued member of the Sheriff’s Office and will be greatly missed by her friends and co-workers. The resolution honors Cathy Bidou for her over 29 years of service and commends her dedication and public service to Solano County. Officer Bidou retired from the Sheriff’s Office on April 23, 2025.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The cost associated with preparing the agenda item is nominal and absorbed by the department’s FY2024/25 Working Budget. The costs associated with the preparation and purchase of the resolution materials and plaque are included in the Board’s FY2024/25 Working Budget.
ALTERNATIVES:
The Board may elect not to adopt a resolution and plaque of appreciation; however, this is not recommended, as this is an opportunity to honor Correctional Officer Cathy Bidou for her years of public service to the Sheriff’s Office and the citizens of Solano County.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
County Administrative Office ordered the plaque and finalized the resolution for Board presentation.
