DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Department of Health and Social Services (H&SS) recommends the Board adopt and present a resolution honoring Rochelle Sherlock for her support and dedication to the Senior Coalition of Solano County over the past twelve years.
SUMMARY/ DISCUSSION:
The Senior Coalition’s roots date back to the Board of Supervisor’s Elder Abuse Prevention Council and was formed in November 2005 by community members who wanted a venue where organizations focused on senior issues could come together and provide input to the Board of Supervisors. Through a recommendation by the Board of Supervisor’s Committee on Senior Issues and approved by the full Board, the Senior Coalition became a Board Advisory Committee on May 9, 2006. Ms. Sherlock participated in the Coalition from its inception and was a key leader in the development of its vision, values, purpose, and bylaws. She was formally hired as a consultant to be the Coalition’s Coordinator in February 2007 and continued, over the subsequent 10 years to provide a broad range of ideas, support, direction, and facilitation to assist the Senior Coalition in achieving its purpose.
Today, with the support, dedication, and enthusiasm of Ms. Sherlock, the Senior Coalition has twenty-two active members, multiple public and private partners across the County, and has initiated and supported numerous initiatives to improve the quality of life for seniors Solano County.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
There is no impact to the County General Fund with the adoption of the resolution.
ALTERNATIVES:
The Board may choose not to adopt the resolution of appreciation honoring Rochelle Sherlock. This is not recommended as it is an opportunity to acknowledge her dedicated service to Solano County seniors.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
There is no other agency involvement.
