DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Department of Health and Social Services (H&SS) recommends that the Board of Supervisors adopt and present a resolution and plaque of appreciation recognizing Patrick Stasio, Health Assistant, upon his retirement from Solano County with 29 years of dedicated service in the Department of Health and Social Services, Family Health Services Division.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Before joining Solano County, Patrick Stasio retired from the United States (U.S.) Navy with the rank of command master chief petty officer after 43 years of service. While in the U.S. Navy, Mr. Stasio studied aviation medicine before being deployed to serve as a navy medical corpsman in the Korean War.
On February 5, 1996, Mr. Stasio began his second career with Solano County as a Health Assistant in the Health and Social Services, Family Health Services clinics where he utilized his diverse range of health care service-related skills obtained in the U.S. Navy. Additionally, Mr. Stasio obtained a certificate in Community Health Outreach Services from Solano Community College, which also prepared him in assisting individuals in accessing resources, adopting healthy living behaviors, and navigating systems to improve health outcomes.
Mr. Stasio is a homeless advocate with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by those experiencing homelessness and worked to support and empower individuals experiencing homelessness by providing access to resources such as healthcare, food, employment, housing, and other essential services.
Mr. Stasio was a co-founder, former executive director, and longtime supporter of the North Bay Stand Down, which was first held in 2002 in Dixon, California. The North Bay Stand Down was a resource fair designed to assist homeless and/or at-risk veterans in Napa, Solano, Sonoma and Yolo counties by providing a variety of social services, including health screenings, dental care, benefits counseling, and referrals to a variety of other services such as housing, employment, mental health and substance disorder treatment, and employment services.
Throughout his career, Mr. Stasio provided excellent services and support to the Solano County community with compassion, respect, and with a tremendous amount of commitment. He has demonstrated dedication to the Solano County community by providing services for those in need. Mr. Stasio embodies the mission of the Department of Health and Social Services, which is “to promote healthy, safe, and stable lives.”
Mr. Stasio retired on April 14, 2025. He is to be commended for the 29 years of dedicated service to the community where he provided healthcare outreach, education, and services to countless individuals. Solano County H&SS staff and leadership congratulate Mr. Stasio on a well-deserved retirement and wish him all the best in retirement and future endeavors.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The costs associated with the purchase and preparation of the resolution materials and plaque are included in the Board’s FY2025/26 Working Budget.
ALTERNATIVES:
The Board could choose not to adopt and present the resolution and plaque of appreciation for Mrs. Stasio. However, this is not recommended as it is an opportunity to recognize Mr. Stasio for 29 years of dedicated service and outstanding contributions to Solano County.
