DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Department of Information Technology (DoIT)/Registrar of Voters (ROV) recommends that the Board receive a presentation on the selection of Laura King as the November 2025 “Employee of the Month,” making her eligible to use the parking space designated for this program.
SUMMARY / DISCUSSION:
On September 13, 2005, the Board of Supervisors established the County Government Center “Employee of the Month” parking program for County employees. Each month a County department is designated to select one of its employees as “Employee of the Month.” DoIT/ROV has been designated to select an employee for November 2025.
To select the Board’s “Employee of the Month” parking award, DoIT/ROV staff was asked to nominate a member of the staff for the “Employee of the Month” designation, detailing the reason for the nomination, and to submit nominations to the DoIT/ROV Director. The employee selected for November 2025 is Laura King.
Laura has demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication to advancing the work of the Registrar of Voters office. Among her most significant accomplishments is successfully managing the County’s website conversion to a new platform, including the complete redesign of all ROV pages to improve accessibility and usability. She also managed the Remote Accessible Vote by Mail platform, expanding critical services to overseas and military voters, and implemented electronic processes for curing signature mismatches, streamlining service and ensuring voter confidence.
In addition, Laura has overseen key voter registration deadlines, balancing reporting requirements while ensuring compliance with state election laws. Perhaps most impressively, she led the charge in November 2024 to process more than 80,000 vote-by-mail ballots dropped off on Election Day, completing the task within just three business days-a feat that required tireless coordination, attention to detail, and dedication.
Laura’s colleagues describe her as a committed professional who consistently steps up to meet challenges with determination and positivity. Her ability to manage large, complex projects under tight deadlines while maintaining high standards of accuracy and service excellence reflects her outstanding contribution to the department and the County.
Solano County is fortunate to have such a dedicated and talented professional as Laura King. Her accomplishments highlight her commitment to service and innovation, and we are pleased to nominate her for the Employee of the Month award.
