DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Department of Human Resources recommends the Board of Supervisors receive a presentation on the selection of Alicia Bennett as the October 2024 "Employee of the Month" making Alicia eligible to use the parking space designated for this program.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
On September 13, 2005, the Board of Supervisors established the County Government Center "Employee of the Month" program for County employees. Each month a County department is designated to select one of its employees as "Employee of the Month." The Department of Human Resources has been designated to select an employee for October 2024.
The staff of the Department of Human Resources submitted nominations for the "Employee of the Month" award. Nominations were reviewed by the managers for final selection with Alicia Bennett selected.
Alicia began working in the Department of Human Resources in March 2023 as a Human Resources Analyst. In her role, Alicia performs a variety of critical recruitment, personnel, classification, and labor functions, and does so with a consistent positive attitude and stellar customer service. This is exemplified in the written and verbal commendations she receives from her peers and departments for which she provides services. Alicia has been described as providing impeccable customer service and as being an absolute professional. She is empathetic in listening to the needs of her departmental staff and is responsive to those needs. Internally, Alicia is seen as helpful and compassionate, and her colleagues express great appreciation for how she extends herself when needed. Alicia will stay after hours to help someone finish an assignment, even if she has had a long day. She always strives to do better, even when those around her feel she has already hit the mark. Alicia is further described as humble and her delivery of information, whether it be good news or bad, is articulated in a calm manner. For these reasons and more, Alicia was nominated and selected as Employee of the Month.
The Department of Human Resources team congratulates Alicia on being selected as "Employee of the Month."
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The costs associated with preparing the agenda item are nominal and absorbed by the Department’s FY2024/25 Working Budget.
ALTERNATIVES:
The Board of Supervisors could choose not to select Ms. Bennett as the “Employee of the Month”; however, this alternative is not recommended as her co-workers and Department leadership have nominated her as deserving of the Board’s “Employee of the Month” program.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
None.
