DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:

 

The Department of Health & Social Services (H&SS) recommends that the Board approve and present a plaque of appreciation honoring Nazlin Huerta, Senior Health Services Manager, upon her retirement from the Public Health Division with over 10 years of dedicated public service to Solano County.

 

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

 

Nazlin Huerta began her career with Solano County Health & Social Services in July 2008 as a Health Education Specialist in the Health Promotion & Education Bureau. Ms. Huerta helped plan, implement and evaluate Public Health education programs, including Tobacco Prevention, Oral Health and Injury Prevention.

 

In 2012, Ms. Huerta promoted to Health Services Manager within H&SS in the Public Health Maternal, Child & Adolescent Health Bureau. As a Health Services Manager, Ms. Huerta managed operations and activities for the Black Infant Health and BabyFirst/Healthy Families America programs. She oversaw the successful application, implementation and accreditation process to bring the evidence-based Healthy Families America program to Solano County. Ms. Huerta was quickly recognized statewide and nationally for her subject matter expertise and has since served as a National Site Reviewer for Healthy Families America.

 

In January 2017, Ms. Huerta promoted to Senior Health Services Manager where she was responsible for planning, organizing and managing multiple complex Maternal, Child & Adolescent Health Programs, and serving as Solano County Maternal, Child & Adolescent Health Program Coordinator.

 

Throughout her career with Solano County, Ms. Huerta has demonstrated vision, creativity and great skill in partnering and collaborating with both internal and community partners. Ms. Huerta has shown remarkable dedication to her job and her staff, and a deep commitment to serving women, babies and children in Solano County

 

Nazlin Huerta retired on December 28, 2018 as Senior Health Services Manager in the Maternal, Child & Adolescent Health Bureau in Solano Public Health and H&SS congratulates Ms. Huerta and wishes her all the best in her future endeavors.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

 

The costs associated with preparing the agenda item are nominal and absorbed by the Department’s FY2018/19 Adopted Budget. The costs associated with the preparation and purchase of the plaque of appreciation are included in the Board’s FY2018/19 Adopted Budget. 

 

ALTERNATIVES:

 

The Board could choose not to approve and present this plaque of appreciation. This is not recommended as it is an opportunity to recognize Ms. Huerta’s dedication and outstanding contributions to the County and community.
