DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:

 

The Department of Health and Social Services recommends that the Board of Supervisors adopt and present a resolution and plaque of appreciation recognizing Janelle Bogue, Office Supervisor, upon her retirement from Solano County with 23 years of dedicated service in the Department of Health and Social Services, Welfare Administration Division.

 

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

 

Janelle Bogue began her career on May 2, 2001, as an office assistant II in the Department of Health and Social Services (H&SS), Welfare Administration’s Fiscal Issuance Unit.

 

On February 17, 2002, Ms. Bogue transferred to the Auditor Controller’s Office as an accounting clerk I, promoting to an accounting clerk II on September 15, 2002, and an accounting clerk III on January 30, 2005, where she provided accounting support.

 

Ms. Bogue promoted to an accounting technician in the H&SS, Administration Division on December 30, 2007 where she provided accounting support and statistical reporting and recording activities.

 

In 2017, Ms. Bogue transferred to the Fiscal and Reporting Unit in Employment and Eligibility Services and promoted to office supervisor in 2020. Her position transferred in 2024 to the Fiscal Disbursement Bureau in the H&SS, Welfare Administration Division where she coordinated/supervised staff in the Supportive Services Issuances unit which supports individuals in becoming self-sufficient. Ms. Bogue also provided support during the migration from the California Welfare Information Network (CalWIN) to the California Statewide Automated Welfare System (CalSAWS).

 

During her tenure with Solano County, Ms. Bogue has been dedicated to the service of the County, its clientele, and continuous improvement in county processes. Ms. Bogue has strived to improve efficacy and efficiency both internally and externally. Her willingness to assist others has benefited the County, her colleagues, and its clientele. 

 

She has also demonstrated dedication to her community by helping those in need. She prepared and assembled lunch meals for people experiencing homelessness for many years, using her lunch breaks to deliver the meals to those in need. Ms. Bogue embodies the Solano County “Live, Learn, Work, and Play” spirit.

 

Ms. Bogue retired on July 6, 2024 with 23 years of dedicated service to Solano County and she looks forward to traveling with family and friends.  The Department of Health and Social Services wishes her all the best in her future endeavors and a long, happy retirement.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

 

The costs associated with preparation of the agenda item are nominal and absorbed by the Department’s FY2024/25 Working Budget.  The costs of preparing and purchasing the resolution materials and plaque are included in the Board’s FY2024/25 Working Budget.

 

ALTERNATIVES:

 

The Board could choose not to adopt and present the resolution and plaque of appreciation. This alternative is not recommended because Mrs. Bogue's service to Solano County is worthy of recognition and provides a positive example to others.
