DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Public Defender recommends that the Board of Supervisors adopt a resolution and plaque of appreciation recognizing Kimberley Dockery, Senior Legal Secretary, upon her retirement from the Public Defender’s Office with 22 years of dedicated service to Solano County.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Kimberley Dockery began her career with Solano County on November 27, 2001, as an Office Assistant II in the Recorder’s Office. In March 2003, she promoted to the Public Defender’s Office as a Legal Secretary. In 2019, her leadership skills were recognized as she was promoted to the lead position of Legal Secretary, Senior.
Ms. Dockery has been providing caring and compassionate support to the Public Defender’s Office’s clients and staff for over 20 years. She has been a great asset to the department with her knowledge, experience, and kind demeanor.
Prior to her employment with the County, Ms. Dockery spent 13 years in a law office and her background has been beneficial to the Public Defender’s Office and its staff. Ms. Dockery has assisted with the development of process and procedures, training, and monitoring work product. She has shared her time and talents to the office time and time again to ensure its smooth functioning over the years. Ms. Dockery has gone as far as to volunteer to help cover in another division when the staffing was in critical need of support. In her most recent position, Senior Legal Secretary, she guides, mentors, and supports newer staff in mastering their roles in the clerical team. She is beloved by the attorneys, investigators, and other clerical staff and provides patient and kind support to all. Ms. Dockery’s hard-work, dedication, and gentle demeanor will truly be missed.
The Solano County Public Defender’s Office and clients have benefited greatly from her dedication, experience, and commitment to our clients. Ms. Dockery retires on December 2, 2023. Solano County Public Defender’s Office congratulates Ms. Dockery on her retirement, and wishes her all the best in her future endeavors.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The costs associated with preparing this agenda item are nominal and absorbed by the Public Defender’s FY2023/24 Working Budget. The costs associated with preparation and purchase of the resolution materials and plaque are included in the Board’s FY2023/24 Working Budget.
ALTERNATIVES:
The Board may choose not to adopt this resolution or plaque of appreciation; however, this is not recommended as it is an opportunity to recognize Kimberley Dockery’s 22 years of service as well as her dedication and outstanding contributions Solano County.
