DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the Board of Directors of the Montezuma Fire Protection District consider adopting a resolution establishing regular meetings, procedures and annual selection of President and Vice President.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

Health & Safety Code ?13843 requires the Board of Directors of the Montezuma Fire Protection to meet quarterly each year and the proposed resolution outlines that meetings shall be held in conjunction with the meetings of the Solano County Board of Supervisors, at the same time and place, no less than quarterly, and more frequently as necessary to conduct District business. The Board is also required to select a President and Vice President, and the recommendation is that annually, upon selection of the Chair and Vice Chair of the Solano County Board of Supervisors, those individuals automatically serve as President and Vice President, respectively, of the District Board of Directors. The County Administrator for Solano County is recommended as Secretary to the Board of Directors.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

The costs associated with preparing the agenda item are nominal and absorbed by the District's FY2025/26 Working Budget.

ALTERNATIVES:

The Board could choose not to adopt the resolution; however, quarterly meetings of the District are mandated and the resolution provides the necessary guidance and flexibility to meet this requirement. The Board could choose not to align selection of its President and Vice President with the Solano County Board of Supervisors Chair and Vice Chair selections; however, this is not recommended as the District requires the establishment of these positions and the ...
