DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
Supervisor Cassandra James recommends the Board adopt and present a resolution recognizing and honoring Centenarian Ruth Love, for her service in the Vallejo Community.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Mrs. Ruth Love will celebrate her 100th birthday on April 10, 2025, marking a remarkable milestone in her life. A devoted Vallejo resident for over 80 years, she has made significant contributions to her community, including co-founding the first Black American Girl Scout Troop in Solano County with colleagues Mrs. Loretta Caesar-Stewart, Mrs. Edwina Morgan, and Mrs. Luella Lewis. Mrs. Love has been an active member of the PTA and Friendship Missionary Baptist Church for over 70 years, supporting education and community programs. A proud mother of six and grandmother to 37, her love, wisdom, and service have profoundly impacted her family and the Vallejo community, leaving a legacy that continues to inspire future generations.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The costs associated with preparing the agenda item are nominal and absorbed by the department’s FY2024/25 Working Budget.
DISCUSSION:
The Board may choose not to adopt and present the resolution. This is not recommended because centenarians are part of the fastest growing segment of the population and have helped shape our nation as it is today.
