DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Department of General Services recommends that the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve the Notice of Completion (NOC) for the Northeast Hangar Taxilane Reconstruction and Drainage Improvements Project, Phase 2A located at Nut Tree Airport, 301 County Airport Road, Vacaville, constructed by OC Jones & Sons, Inc., Berkeley, CA; and
2. Authorize the Clerk of the Board to record the executed Notice of Completion.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
On November 5, 2024, the Board awarded a construction contract to OC Jones & Sons, Inc., Berkeley, CA, to reconstruct failing pavement and install drainage improvements as part of the Northeast Hangar Taxilane Reconstruction and Drainage Improvements Project, Phase 2A (Project). This phase of the multi-year project involved reconstructing six taxilanes located south of the Main Taxilane, covering approximately 12,000 square yards. Work included removal of existing asphalt pavement, reconstruction of the pavement section (asphalt concrete, aggregate base, and lime-treated subgrade), installation of drainage improvements including valley gutters, and pavement striping. These improvements bring the taxilanes into compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) safety standards and extends the pavement's useful life by 20 years.
