DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
Supervisor James requests that the Board of Supervisors approve the appointment of Olivia Ruiz to serve on the Greater Vallejo Recreation District representing District 1 for a term through December 5, 2029.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Ms. Ruiz brings nearly two decades of experience in the public sector, including service within special districts and financial institutions, and will provide valuable financial perspective, support, and guidance to the Board. Her appointment will support the Greater Vallejo Recreation District and the community it serves by strengthening youth-focused programming and expanding awareness of the District’s recreational services through increased outreach.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The costs associated with preparing the agenda item are nominal and absorbed by the District 1 FY2025/26 Working Budget.
ALTERNATIVES:
The Board may choose not to appoint Ms. Ruiz to the Greater Vallejo Recreation District Board; however, this is not recommended. Ms. Ruiz is highly qualified and brings extensive experience in fiscal oversight and government operations that would be a valuable asset to the District.
