DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Department of Health and Social Services (H&SS) recommends that the Board of Supervisors adopt and present a resolution recognizing November 2025 as National Adoption Month to demonstrate appreciation for the adoptive families and social workers who provide permanency to children in need throughout Solano County.
SUMMARY:
For three decades, November has been observed as National Adoption Month across the nation to raise awareness about the thousands of children and youth in foster care awaiting permanent families. This month is also a time to reflect on the incredible dedication of those who make adoption possible.
Solano County has a long tradition of formally recognizing and appreciating the adoptive families who provide permanency to children in need, and the committed child welfare staff who facilitate and support these life-changing connections. The Solano County Adoption Month resolution helps to increase awareness about adoption in the community and inspire all towards excellence in achieving permanency for youth. This month is also a time to express deep gratitude to the dedicated caregivers, social workers, and community partners whose compassion and tireless efforts guide children through the adoption journey. Their work ensures that every child has the opportunity to experience stability, belonging, and unconditional love. By celebrating adoption and those who support it, Solano County reaffirms its commitment to building strong, supportive families and enriching the community through shared connection and hope.
