DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:

 

The Clerk of the Board requests that the Board of Supervisors approve the appointment of Virginia Hernandez-Chavez as the County representative to the Solano Transportation Authority's Pedestrian Advisory Committee for the remainder of a 3-year term to expire on December 31, 2026.

 

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

 

The Solano Transportation Authority's (STA) Pedestrian Advisory Committee (PAC) consists of one representative appointed from each city, one representative from Solano County, and representatives from special interest groups. The PAC's primary responsibility is to advise the STA Board of Directors on the allocation of countywide funding and planning activities related to pedestrian facilities and programs.  The STA Board of Directors will formally approve the County's nomination.

 

Ms. Hernandez-Chavez has submitted an advisory committee interest form (Attachment A) and was interviewed by staff from the Department of Resource Management. Director of Resource Management James Bezek has submitted a letter requesting the Board consider the appointment (Attachment B).

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

 

There is no financial impact to making this appointment.

 

ALTERNATIVES:

 

The Board could decide not to appoint Virginia Hernandez-Chavez to the Solano Transportation Authority Pedestrian Advisory, however, this is not recommended, as she is qualified and has a desire to serve in this capacity.
