DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Department of Resource Management recommends that the Board adopt a Resolution authorizing the Interim Director of Resource Management to execute a Quitclaim Deed for 1.159 acres of right of way to the State of California.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The State of California (Caltrans) has been working to acquire land and easements to complete the various phases of the Interstate 80/680/12 project (Project). This Project enhances the capacity, safety, and traffic operations of the interchange with each phase that gets constructed. For the latest Project phase, Caltrans acquired right of way from the end of Solano County's West Cordelia Road. In addition, Caltrans determined that there was also right of way still owned by Solano County within the Interstate 80 corridor. The property, approximately 1.159 acres of right of way, should have been transferred to the State with improvements done to the interchange in about 1967. Caltrans provided a draft Quitclaim Deed with legal descriptions and plats (Attachment A) and requested that Solano County execute the document.
Executing the Quitclaim Deed will relinquish the County's interest in this right of way, which will improve the jurisdictional mapping for this area and limit Solano County's long-term liability in the Interstate corridor. With the Board's adoption of the Resolution (Attachment B), the Interim Director will execute the Quitclaim Deed which will be recorded by Caltrans after final execution.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
There is no Road Fund impact for this item except for the minimal costs related to the staff time necessary to prepare this Board item and execution of the Quitclaim Deed. The costs associated wi...
