DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Department of General Services recommends that the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve the Notice of Completion for the Nut Tree Airport - Elevator Code Upgrades Project at Solano County by Dream Ride Elevator of Benicia, CA; and
2. Authorize the Clerk of the Board to record the executed Notice of Completion.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
On May 23, 2023, the Board awarded a construction contract for $90,000 with Dream Ride Elevator of Benicia, CA for the Nut Tree Airport Elevator Code Upgrade Project (Project). The Project consists of upgrading the elevator door operator mechanism, door closure guard, elevator controller, car positioning devices, and replacing all aged existing wiring, travel cables and elevator fixtures. The elevator cabin, hall light and push buttons were upgraded to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. Replacements are fully operational and will extend the life of the elevator for another 20-plus years. Department of General Services recommends approval of the Notice of Completion (Attachment A).
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The Board approved funding of $220,000 in Fund 047, Department 9010 for the Project (Budget Unit 9012) in FY2021/22 to upgrade the existing elevator.
The base construction contract awarded to Dream Ride Elevators was for $90,000. One owner-requested change order for $4,973 was executed to install a new hydraulic muffler for the elevator, for a total contract amount of $94,973.
