DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:

The Department of Resource Management recommends that the Board of Supervisors adopt a resolution certifying the maintained mileage of Solano County roads as 576.494 miles as of December 31, 2025.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

California Streets and Highways Code §2121 requires the County certify the mileage of Solano County maintained roads each year. Adoption of the attached resolution (Attachment A) will certify that the County’s maintained road mileage in 2025 was 576.494 miles, which had no change from 2024. A complete road list with individual maintained mileages for 2025 is also provided (Attachment B).

The Department will submit the mileage certified by the Board to Caltrans for the portion of Gas Tax that is apportioned on county mileage as well as for future reporting.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

Revenues received by the Road Fund are partially based on the maintained mileage of County roads. The costs associated with preparing the agenda item are nominal and absorbed by the Department’s FY2025/26 Working Budget.

ALTERNATIVES:

The Board could choose not to adopt the resolution. This is not recommended as State law requires that the County report its maintained mileage to Caltrans each year.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

The County’s maintained mileage is reported to Caltrans upon adoption of the resolution.
