DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:

Supervisor Mashburn requests that the Board authorize the County's contribution of $6,000 from the General Fund contribution allocated to District 5 to benefit the following organizations: Solano County Farm Bureau Young Ranchers & Farmers ($2,000), Meals on Wheels of Solano County, Inc. ($1,000), Rio Vista CARE, Inc. ($1,000), Rio Vista Downtown Association Inc. ($1,000), and Solano Marine Corps League Charles Bud Hallum Detachment #1486 ($1,000).

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

District 5 has identified five local non-profit organizations for which to contribute its non-county contribution allocation. These agencies directly impact and enrich the lives of residents in Solano County through community support programs.

Solano County Farm Bureau Young Ranchers & Farmers ($2,000)

The Solano County Young Farmers & Ranchers (YF&R) is a standing committee of the Solano County Farm Bureau designed for young people who share an interest in improving themselves and the agricultural industry in Solano County. Young adults from the ages 18-35, who are interested in agriculture and/or work in the agricultural industry through production or business agriculture may join.

Young Farmers & Ranchers develop leadership skills while volunteering as active, vital members of the Solano County Farm Bureau. Members can attend Leadership Conferences and enter state YF&R contests representing themselves or Solano County, network with the County Farm Bur...
