DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Sheriff recommends that the Board of Supervisors adopt a resolution and plaque of appreciation honoring Public Safety Dispatcher (Senior) Jessica Abbott upon her retirement from the Sheriff's Office with over 28 years of dedicated public service to Solano County.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Jessica Abbott began her career with Solano County Sheriff's Office as a Public Safety Dispatcher (Entry) on January 26, 1997, promoted to Public Safety Dispatcher on January 25, 1998, and then to Public Safety Dispatcher (Senior) on January 23, 2000, where she served until her retirement. Jessica worked as a trainer for new dispatchers and was a member of the Solano County Fireman's Association. Jessica served on the fire incident dispatch team and annually worked events such as the Dixon May Fair and Solano County Fair.
Jessica received commendations from various agencies throughout her career. She was recognized in 2002 for her attention to detail during a train fire. In 2004, she was recognized for her assistance in making the AGCRIME program available to dispatch, and in 2010, she was acknowledged for her help in an attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and vehicle pursuit that led to the successful apprehension of the subjects.
Jessica is known to have an uplifting attitude that decreases stress among her co-workers, making her an asset to her team; she is known for her ability to adapt to situations with a calm demeanor, serious commitment to her work, dependability, cheerfulness, dedication, and, most of all, as a positive role model for new dispatchers.
