DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Department of General Services recommends that the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve an agreement for $702,996 with Monley Hamlin, Inc. of Woodland for improvements to the Main Jail at 530 Union Avenue in Fairfield; and
2. Authorize the County Administrator or designee to execute the agreement and any amendments within the approved project budget
SUMMARY:
The Department of General Services recommends that the Board approve an agreement with Monley Hamlin, Inc. of Woodland for $702,996 (Attachment A) as the lowest responsible bidder for the Main Jail Improvement Project located at 530 Union Avenue in Fairfield.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The total approved budget for the Project is $950,000 (Budget Unit 1712) funded by the Capital Renewal Reserve.
DISCUSSION:
The Project includes renovation and improvements to the Downtown Main Jail public lobby and booking areas which were initially constructed in 1988. The Project was advertised as required by the Public Contract Code. A total of two bids were received (Attachment B) with Monley Hamlin, Inc. of Woodland as the lowest responsible bidder. The Department of General Services recommends the Board approve a contract in the amount of $702,996 with Monley Hamlin, Inc. to construct the renovation and improvements.
ALTERNATIVES:
1. The Board could reject the bids. The renovation and improvements are needed and were included in the Approved Capital Improvement Project. Rejection of the bid is not recommended.
