DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
Supervisor James requests that the Board of Supervisors authorize the County's contribution of $300 from the General Fund contribution allocated to District 1 to benefit KOL Education Foundation ($300).
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
District 1 has identified the following local non-profit organizations for which to contribute its non-county contribution allocation:
KOL Education Foundation $300
The KOL Education Foundation serves youth in Vallejo, with a focused commitment to mentoring and supporting young men enrolled in local high schools. The organization's mentorship program is designed to strengthen academic performance, promote personal accountability, and cultivate leadership development. Through structured guidance, positive role modeling, and community-centered engagement, the program encourages participants to recognize the long-term value of education and civic involvement.
This contribution will assist in sustaining mentorship activities, educational programming, and supportive services that provide students with tools to navigate academic challenges, set post-secondary goals, and build confidence as emerging leaders within the community. The program aligns with District 1's commitment to youth development, educational advancement, and strengthening pathways to opportunity for Vallejo students. The proposed allocation of $300 reflects District 1's continued support of local organizations that invest directly in young people and contribute to positive community outcomes.
