DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:

 

Supervisor Vasquez requests that the Board of Supervisors approve the appointment of Danielle Shea to the Parks and Recreation Commission, representing District 4, for a four-year term expiring on December 31, 2029.

 

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

 

Danielle Shea is an active community member who is invested in positive outcomes for our community public spaces. She has worked with the City of Vacaville Parks and Recreation Commission and the Vacaville People’s Forum which shows her dedication and commitment to improving her community for all residents.

 

The Park and Recreation Commission is a five-member body nominated by each of the supervisory districts. The purpose of the Commission is to advise the Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission on park and recreation needs including proposed buffer zones, open spaces, and greenbelts, and on matters pertaining to regional parks in or adjacent to Solano County. They consider and use the Park and Recreation Master Plan and propose modification and recommendations as needed to the Board of Supervisors.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

 

There is no financial impact associated with this appointment.

 

ALTERNATIVES:

 

The Board can choose not to appoint Danielle Shea to the Park and Recreation Commission, but this is not recommended since she is qualified and willing to serve.
