DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:

Supervisor James requests that the Board of Supervisors approve the appointment of D’Angelo Paillet to serve on the Park & Recreation Commission representing District 1 for a term through December 31, 2029.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

The Solano County Park and Recreation Commission plays a critical role in shaping the future of the County’s outdoor and recreational assets. It provides guidance on planning, conservation, community access, and strategic investment in parks and open spaces, ensuring these resources are preserved and enhanced for current and future generations.

Mr. Paillet brings strong experience and a deep understanding of the Commission’s purpose, as well as the broader needs of Solano County residents. His knowledge of public policy, community engagement, and park stewardship-along with his prior service in the community -positions him as a valuable asset to the Commission. His participation would support informed decision-making, responsible resource management, and the strengthening of recreational opportunities across the County.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

The costs associated with preparing the agenda item are nominal and absorbed by the District 1 FY2025/26 Working Budget.

ALTERNATIVES:

The Board could choose not to appoint Mr. Paillet to the Parks and Recreation Commission; however, this is not recommended. He is highly qualified, brings a wealth of county government experience, and has demonstrated consistent service to the community over many years.
