DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
Supervisor Vasquez requests that the Board adopt seven resolutions recognizing the outstanding young women who attended the 2025 American Legion Auxiliary California Girls State summer leadership program.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Each year, outstanding Solano County high school juniors are selected by the American Legion Auxiliary Rago Christopher Unit 165 to attend the American Legion Auxiliary Girls State summer leadership program. The training objectives focus on city, county and state government structure and places attendees in the position of holding various offices through mock elections, legislative sessions, court proceedings, assemblies, and more.
The 2025 Girls State attendees are Taylor Connelley (Buckingham Collegiate Charter Academy), Maya Singh (Vanden High School), Olivia St. Surin (Rodriguez High School), Shelby Stanley (Vacaville Christian High School), Gabriella Munoz (Will C. Wood High School), Lylah Magalong (Vacaville High School), and Melissa Martinez (Armijo High School). The American Legion Auxiliary Rago Christopher Unit 165 will honor these outstanding students during their annual Reporting & Recognition Night, to be held Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at the Solano County Veterans Memorial Hall of Vacaville.
