DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:

Authorize the Director of Resource Management to enter into a funding agreement with Yolo County to split local match costs totaling $3,300,000 for each agency for construction of the Stevenson Bridge Road Bridge Rehabilitation Project.

SUMMARY:

The Department of Resource Management recently received confirmation of a federal aid funding award from Caltrans for construction of the Stevenson Bridge Road Bridge Rehabilitation Project. The Project will repair and rehabilitate the aging structure and improve the curve along the southern approach. The Bridge spans Putah Creek, which is the dividing line between Solano and Yolo Counties.

While the federal aid funds will pay approximately $8.8 million of the construction contract cost, the remaining $3.3 million in total project cost must be paid by the counties jointly as local match. The Funding Agreement (Attachment A) will split all local match costs evenly between the two counties with Solano County acting as lead agency for construction delivery. An agreement with Yolo County is required to confirm full funding for construction of the Project and staff is requesting the Board authorize the Director of Resource Management to enter into this agreement.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

The project will total approximately $12,000,000, with $10,500,000 in estimated construction contract costs and $1,500,000 in construction engineering and inspection costs.
