DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Solano County Veterans Services Office recommends that the Board adopt and present a resolution recognizing November 11, 2024, as Veterans Day and honoring all Solano County residents who have served and are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Every year on Veterans Day, Solano County pauses to honor and pay tribute to all those who have served or are actively serving in our military, including in the United States and overseas. Each time our values have come under assault, these brave individuals have responded with resolve, valor, and sacrifice, allowing our Republic to flourish. Veterans Day is also a day to reflect on the sacrifices veterans have made and are continuing to make for this nation, including the approximately 34,000 veterans who call Solano County their home, and those currently serving at Travis Air Force Base.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The costs associated with preparing the agenda item are nominal and absorbed by the Department’s FY2024/25 Working Budget. The costs associated with preparation and purchase of the resolution materials are included in the Board’s FY2024/25 Working Budget.
ALTERNATIVES:
The Board may choose not to adopt and present this resolution; however, this is not recommended as Veterans Day is a time to honor the veterans of this great country who have contributed to the success and freedoms that we enjoy.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
No other agencies were involved.
