DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
Supervisor Hannigan requests the Board of Supervisors approve the appointment of Susan Slater to the In-Home Supportive Services Public Authority Advisory Committee as the District 1 representative effective at their regular meeting on November 18, 2024, to fill an unexpired term through February 9, 2025.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Ms. Slater is a parent of a special needs daughter and the advocate for her special needs partner of 12 years. She has the experience with various organizations such as In-Home Support Services (IHSS), North Bay Regional and Turning Point. Her life experience will be an asset to the IHSS Public Authority Advisory Committee.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The costs associated with preparing the agenda item are nominal and absorbed by the department’s FY2024/25 Working Budget.
ALTERNATIVES:
The Board of Supervisors could choose not to approve the appointment. However, that is not the recommendation as Ms. Slater is well qualified for the position and an active volunteer in District 1.
