DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The District Attorney's Office recommends that the Board of Supervisors:
1. Adopt a resolution authorizing the District Attorney to execute a revenue contract with the State of California Victim Compensation Board (CalVCB) to fund victim restitution services in the amount of $233,559 for the period of July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2029; and
2. Authorize the District Attorney to execute contract extensions or amendments directly related to ongoing contract activities and within budgeted appropriations.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Solano County District Attorney's Office has participated in the State of California program to assist victims of crimes in obtaining information and making dispositional information available to the State of California Victim Compensation Board (CalVCB) since 1996.
CalVCB administers the Victim Compensation Program, which provides reimbursement for crime-related expenses to victims who suffer physical injury or the threat of physical injury as a result of a violent crime. Covered expenses include mental health treatment or counseling, funeral and burial expenses, home or vehicle modifications for victims who became disabled, income loss, medical and dental treatment, relocation, residential security and mental health counseling for minors who witness a violent crime.
