DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Department of Resource Management recommends that the Board adopt a resolution proclaiming the week of May 17-23, 2026, as the 66th annual National Public Works Week in Solano County to recognize and highlight the ideals embodied in this year's theme, "Rooted in Service, Powered by Community," and to honor the dedication of public works professionals serving Solano County residents.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
National Public Works Week is observed each year during the third full week of May. Recognizing National Public Works Week acknowledges the hundreds of thousands of men and women across the country who provide and maintain public works infrastructure and services. Established in 1960 as a public education campaign, National Public Works Week calls attention to the importance of public works in community life. Public Works professionals serve the public every day with quiet dedication, and their contributions often go unnoticed. The recommended resolution honors the commitment of these professionals.
