DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors consider appointments to various boards, commissions and committees for 2026.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

At the beginning of each year, the Board of Supervisors considers appointments of the supervisors to various boards, commissions and committees. A majority of these boards, commissions and committees are national, state, regional, and countywide bodies, while others are merely Board subcommittees formed at the direction of the Board of Supervisors and are advisory in nature. As needed the Chair may create ad-hoc committees which are made up of two Board members and the role of each committee is to study specific subject matters and report back and/or make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors. Board ad-hoc committees' commitment of County resources, including inquiry/research by support staff and commitment of resources for individual Board member initiatives requires a majority approval from the Board of Supervisors.

The attached 2026 Board of Supervisors' Appointments (Attachment A) provides a brief purpose for the various Board committees, identification of current support staff, contact information for each board, commission and committee, as well as the appointment date, term lengths and meeting times. The appointment lists also indicate whether compensation is provided to the appointee and whether a Statement of Economic Interest will be required.

For the 2026 reporting year, two committees have been removed from the list as they are no longer active according to their respective organizational contacts. These committees are the ABAG Regional Planning Committee and the City of Vallejo Interagency Committee.
