DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Department of Human Resources recommends the Board of Supervisors adopt a resolution amending the Alphabetical Listing of Classes and Salaries to amend the monthly salary range of the Mental Health Medical Director classification to $24,331.59 - $29,575.19.
SUMMARY:
The Department of Human Resources received a request from the bargaining unit representing the Mental Health Medical Director, Unit 19 Professional and Technical Engineers, Local 21, to adjust the salary range. According to the adopted Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), Appendix B Salary Schedule, the Director of Human Resources, with concurrence from the County Administrator, is authorized to maintain a ten percent (10%) wage separation between executive and senior management classifications and subordinate staff. The Psychiatrist (Child-Board Certified) is a subordinate classification under the Mental Health Medical Director, and the current salary of the Psychiatrist (Child-Board Certified) is approximately nine and one half percent (9.5%) above the Mental Health Medical Director salary. It is recommended to adjust the Mental Health Medical Director salary upwards to ten percent (10%) above the Psychiatrist (Child-Board Certified).
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The annualized increase in salary and benefits for the Mental Health Medical Director position is $86,973.75 with a cost of $17,729.26 for the balance of this fiscal year. The cost will be funded with a combination of 1991 and 2011 Realignment and Short Doyle Medical.
