DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:

Supervisor James and Supervisor Brown recommend the Board of Supervisors adopt and present a resolution recognizing June 2025 as Philippine Cultural Month in Solano County.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

On June 12, 2025, the Philippines will commemorate the 127th anniversary of its independence from Spain-a time to honor the nation’s freedom and heritage. In celebration, the Philippine Culture Committee will mark its 36th year by hosting the annual “Pista Sa Nayon” on June 7, 2025. This vibrant event draws a large crowd to celebrate and immerse themselves in Philippine culture and traditions through a lively parade, cultural exhibits, a Filipino Martial Arts tournament, delicious food, and entertainment for all ages. It is therefore recommended that the Board adopt and present a resolution recognizing June 2025 as Philippine Cultural Month in Solano County.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

The costs associated with preparing the agenda item are nominal and absorbed by the department’s FY2024/25 Working Budget.

ALTERNATIVES:

The Board could choose not to adopt the resolution, however that is not the recommendation because this is an opportunity to recognize Philippine Cultural Month in Solano County.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
