DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:
The Department of Health and Social Services recommends the Board of Supervisors:
Adopt a resolution amending the List of Numbers and Classifications of Positions to add 1.0 FTE Administrative Secretary and to delete 1.0 FTE Clerical Operations Supervisor to align with the program needs of the Health and Social Services, Child Welfare Services Division; and
Extend 1.0 FTE Mental Health Specialist II (Limited Term) from January 1, 2027, through June 30, 2027, to continue supporting the Providing Access and Transforming Health Justice-Involved (PATH-JI) program for the Health and Social Services, Behavioral Health Division.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Health and Social Services (H&SS), Child Welfare Services (CWS) Division delivers mandated services to children at risk of abuse or neglect and supports family reunification efforts. The Division is staffed with 147.5 FTEs and is overseen by a Deputy Director whose office provides essential administrative support.
The Clerical Operations Supervisor supporting the Administration recently became vacant. Upon review of the current needs of the Division, CWS determined that the position no longer needs to perform supervisory duties and instead will provide direct administrative support to the CWS Deputy Director.
