DEPARTMENTAL RECOMMENDATION:

The Public Defender's Office recommends that the Board of Supervisors adopt a resolution and plaque of appreciation recognizing Jeannette Garcia, Deputy Public Defender, upon her retirement from Solano County Public Defender's Office with over 26 years of dedicated public service to Solano County.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

Jeannette Garcia was hired on September 21, 1998, by the Office of the Public Defender as a Deputy Public Defender II. She was promoted to the position of Deputy Public Defender V on December 27, 2008. She served as a defense attorney in every unit of the Department and was working as a felony trial lawyer until her retirement on December 31, 2024.

Ms. Garcia has proven herself to be a valuable asset in multiple positions in the Department throughout her career at the Solano County Public Defender's Office. In addition to representing adults accused of crimes, Ms. Garcia has handled juvenile delinquency and dependency cases, as well as civil commitments, and has served as a lead attorney.

In addition, Ms. Garcia has served the community as a Judge Advocate General for the U.S. Army Reserves. Jeannette regularly represented the Public Defender's Office at Veteran's Stand Downs over the years and was instrumental in the development of the Solano County Veteran's Treatment Court.

Ms. Garcia retired on December 31, 2024, after serving the Solano County community for over 26 years. The Solano County Public Defender's Office and our clients have benefited greatly from her dedication, experience, and commitment to our clients.
